This is a Self Defending Vehicle with guns which I designed for ore surveying and carrying large amounts of ores and a (preferably) drill ship of your own making. I dug all the way to the center of the planet for lulz and its just ice, packed ice, then dirt. I like to build near the poles of planets because it is always daytime if you find a good high mountain, but don't try to build smack in the middle of the pole on the ice sheet. It tends to be 100m under ground so you have to scout slowly, but you won't have to go far.A special note about the poles. There is actually a♥♥♥♥♥♥ton of ore all over the place. You have to slow down for a second for it to scan, and you need to be somewhere less than 50-100 meters off the ground to see them. Though it's the ore detector movement that seems to cause this (player movement in case of using a hand drill). Flying around may prevent ore from showing up on HUD even when it normally would. So not very close together, ores can be anything from 1m to maybe 100m deep.Your ship detectors range is about 100m small ship - 150m large ship and the hand drill only has 50m range, so getting close enough to spot deep ores can be a challenge.You are doing it right, just need to find those dark patches, they sort of look like cloud shadows from the air, and near invisible on the ground.
Please help.Solution:You have to be going pretty slow and very low or the ore detector wont 'scan'.įly around and look for dark areas in the ice or grass, they are pretty large and from my experience each dark patch will only have 3 ore veins scattered around them.The dark patches appear between 10 meters appart.
Also, I am sitting on ice, and I noticed a few days ago that ice shows up as an ore, but now I have tried a small detector flying around, holding my drill out, and the large detector, and I havent seen a single arrow on my hud in days.
Are ore detectors working for anyone? Have I unchecked something? I have a station with a large ore detector and antenna and the ore detector is checked to use the antenna.
